The site is gently sloping alongside the main road in the centre of the village.
The plot has been set out to give the new house a generous frontage as befits the
expansive feel of the site and its views down the valley.
It is placed on the land so as to stand at a distance from the existing dwelling and to
retain the present feeling of rural calm and spaciousness.
With ground source heat pump and heat recovery ventilation, passive solar design
has informed the layout and fenestration, which relate the round of daily living to
morning afternoon and evening, and to the views of the landscape.
The aim has been to make a low energy house of substantial proportions which does
not overbear upon its surroundings. It has contemporary touches of detail to give
variation to a form that evokes elegant classic familiarity.
